An American Classical Carved Mahogany Dressing Table, early 19th c., attributed to Duncan Phyfe, New York, mirror with scroll supports, case with fitted drawer flanked by two small drawers over a long drawer, reeded curule legs joined by spiral carved stretcher, casters, height 57 in., width 37 in., depth 19 1/2 in Note: This lot is nearly identical to a dressing table installed in the Peter Dyckman (1796-1824) bedroom at Bosobel, Garrison, New York. The dimensions, mirror supports and case of this dressing table are also nearly identical to those on a dressing table given by Phyfe to his daughter, Eliza Phyfe Vail. The distinctive curule supports and turned stretcher seen here relate to those on an example documented by Nancy McClelland.
