[Mardi Gras], C.C.C. Club, ball invitation, "Fancy Dress and Masquerade Ball at Odd Fellow's Hall, Saturday Evening, February 3, 1894", 13 3/4 in. x 10 1/4 in. Provenance: Gaspar Cusachs, entrepreneur, historian and collector, (1855-1929); The Gaspar Cusachs Collection, loaned to the Louisiana State Museum, New Orleans, LA (c. 1909-2016). Note: The fancy dress and masquerade balls of the Two Well Known Gentlemen and C.C.C. Club known as the "French Balls" showcased the thriving prostitution industry in New Orleans prior to the establishment of the red-light district in Storyville in 1897.
