Provenance: Descended in the family of The Reverend William Gerow Christian, Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Note: Oxford artist Mary Louise Pegues was a talented Mississippi landscape painter. In 1948, Pegues joined the first group of artists to attend Allison's Art Colony at the old hotel at Allison's Wells resort in Madison County, MS. Karl Wolfe served as the colony's director.
