Melville Stark (American/Florida, 1903-1987), "Fisherman, Longboat Key, Florida", oil on canvas, signed lower right, titled and name of artist en verso, 24 in. x 30 in., in modern gilt frame.
- Notes: Note: Along with contemporary W. E. Baum, Stark was a plein-air painter and studied at the University of Pennsylvania, Syracuse University and in Europe. As an impressionist painter, he worked with landscape painters Cullen Yates and Walter Baum, eventually becoming an instructor at The Baum Art School. Stark began his painting career in Pennsylvania, but later lived and worked in Massachusetts and Florida.
