Mildred Nungester Wolfe (American/Alabama/ Mississippi, b. 1912), "Picnic", oil on masonite, signed lower right, sight 21 in., x 27 in. in a period frame. E3000-4000 Note: Mildred Nungester Wolfe was raised in Decatur, Alabama and graduated from Alabama's College for Women. Wolfe pursued a career as an artist and studied at the Art Students' League, Art Institute of Chicago and Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. She was already an accomplished artist when she married fellow artist Karl Wolfe and moved to Jackson, Mississippi. Wolfe's portrait of friend and writer Eudora Welty is in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute.
