Morris Henry Hobbs (American/New Orleans, 1892-1967), "Bromeliad and Bluebirds", watercolor on paper, signed lower left, sight 20 in. x 14in. E2500/3500 Note: By 1953, Morris Henry Hobbs began to move away from his distinguished career as a printmaker. For the next fourteen years, Hobbs focused his attention on the cultivating, collecting and painting different species of bromeliads. He felt watercolor renderings gave him the freedom to accurately depict the colors of theplants. Typically Hobbs would add birds, butterflies and small animalsto his paintings of bromeliads.
