Note: In 1944 and 1945, Morris Henry Hobbs and his wife Alice joined the MacDowell Art Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Nestled in 600 acres of forest the MacDowell Art Colony, which still thrives today, is a retreat where artists, writers and composers gather in the summer months to find a creative and supportive environment. Hobbs found the scenic colony invigorating and created a series of drawings, watercolors and finished oil paintings.
