Note: The bass player Alcide Slow Drag Pavageau was among one of most colorful and popular of the Preservation Hall musicians. Around 1927, Slow Drag constructed a three-string bass and soon after mastered the instrument. As a musician he played and toured with the leading bands of the day including George Lewis, Bunk Johnson, Sweet Emma and Punch Miller. In 1961, Slow Drag became the acting grand marshal of the Eureka Brass Band.
