Borenstein Catalogue Sheet and a newspaper interview with the artist in the Vieux Carre Courier, February 26, 1971 en verso, in a period frame. E5000-7000 Provenance: E. Larry Borenstein Collection New Orleans. Note: Blues guitarist and singer, Babe Stovall (1907- 1974) was born in rural Mississippi and worked as a sharecropper. In the late 1950s, Stovall moved to New Orleans, where his musical talents were recognized. For many years, he played at Larry Borenstein's gallery (which eventually became Preservation Hall) on Jackson Square and at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festivals.
