Olive Ray Long Cooper (American-Louisiana, b. 1896), "Weeping Willow" oil on canvas, signed lower left, 26 in. x 29 in., in a period frame E1000-1500 Note: In 1928, Olive Cooper became Director of the Art Department at Northwestern State College in Natchitoches. Born in Winnfield, Cooper studied at Northwestern State College and Columbia University. An accomplished artist, educator and lecturer, she exhibited regionally with the New Orleans Art Association, the Southern States Art League and Natchitoches Federal Women's Club. In this colorful painting of a "Weeping Willow" along the banks of the Cane River, Cooper used lively expressionistic brushwork.
