Note: Peter Poskas is an acclaimed landscape painter who paints realist views of the towns and landscapes of Litchfield County, Connecticut, where he lives in the village of Washington. The worked offered here depicts the Cream Hill Agricultural School in Kent, CT. Originally located in Cornwall, CT, the school was one of the earliest dedicated to the teaching of scientific agriculture in the United States. Founded in 1845, the school was disassembled, moved and reassembled at the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association site in Kent in 1994. The painting appears to show the building in its original location. A graduate of the Hartford Art School and the MFA program of the University of Massachusetts, Poskas embraced realism during a period when Abstract Expressionism was in favor.
