A Photographic Archive of Prominent Virginia Families, including Robert E. Lee, a collection of 44 photographs, the majority CDVs dating from the Civil War and post war periods, descending in the Powell and Hepburn families, with references to the Hopkins and Lloyd families, all loose, in sleeves, some of the highlights are as follows: a CDV, signed and inscribed by Lee, in uniform, signed on the front, signed and inscribed, verso "For Miss Hattie Powell, RE Lee", backstamp of Vannerson & Jones, Richmond, VA, cut at top approx. 7/16 in., but with no loss to inscription; a CDV, signed and inscribed by Lee's wife, and George Washington's great granddaughter, Mary Custis Lee, signed on the front, signed and inscribed, verso, "For Miss Hattie Powell from her affectionate cousin, M.C. Lee, Lexington, June 16th, 1866", hand-colored (most likely by Mrs. Lee), backstampe of Vannerson & Jones, Richmond, VA; a CDV, of Miss Hattie Powell, the aforementioned cousin of the Lees, backstamp of Seeley & Beal, Alexandria, VA; a CDV, identified verso, as "Lloyd Powell, killed July 21, 1861 at Battle of Manasses; a CDV, of a Confederate officer, two stars on collar, backstamp of Augustus Hall, Alexandria, VA.
