An American Arts and Crafts Silver Tray, Porter Blanchard (1886-1973), wc. Gardner, MA, 1909-1923, California from c. 1923, marked "401/ HAND MADE/ (trademark)/ PORTER BLANCHARD", oval cut out handles, segmented rim and hammered finish, length 22 in Note: Porter Blanchard was a seventh generation silversmith who worked with his father, Boston silversmith George Porter Blanchard, before moving to California in 1923. Keeping up the tradition, Blanchard's sons-in-law, Lewis Wise and Allan Adler, later trained with him as silversmiths. Porter Blanchard was a founder of the Arts and Crafts Society of Southern California.
