E300-500 Note: Baton Rouge artist Ralph Wickiser was Professor of Art at Louisiana State University from 1937 to 1956. As a teacher, Wickiser wrote numerous books on art education. Upon leaving LSU, he founded the Pratt Institute and hired a premier faculty that included Jacob Lawrence, Philip Pearlstein and Roy Lichtenstein. The watercolor 'Dorset Hollow, Vermont Hills' reflects Wickiser's involvement in the Abstract Expressionist Movement of the mid-twentieth century.
