Sydney, N.S.W." and "Adelaide Photo Co.[illegible]" respectively, each with "Winsor & Newton, Prepared Board, London" abraded label en verso, one with pencil-inscription en verso, both framed. (2 pcs.)

Note: The 4-masted iron barque "Colony" was built in 1886 by British shipbuilders William Doxford and Sons. The Canadian barque "Eskasoni," also built in 1886, was named after the indigenous Mi'kmaq community of Nova Scotia.

  • Dimensions: 17 3/4 x 22 1/2 in. (45.1 x 57.2 cm.) and 18 1/2 x 24 in. (47 x 61 cm.); Frames: 23 1/4 x 28 x 1 1/2 in. (59.1 x 71.1 x 3.8 cm.) and 24 1/2 x 30 3/4 x 1 1/2 in. (62.2 x 78.1 x 3.8 cm.)
  • Medium: 2 oils on board
  • Condition: No signs of past restoration; each has to varying degree: abrasions and small losses along edges, warping of board, scattered pinpoint losses and accretions throughout, toning of the varnish layer, surface dirt; "Colony" has light scratches scattered throughout; frames have losses, marks, nicks and abrasions with separation at corners.
