Description:

Reynolds L. Selfridge (American, 1898-1974), 'Still Life', oil on artist board, signed lower right, 26 in. x 19 in., in a modern frame. Note: Reynolds Selfridge trained with leading American Impressionist Charles Hawthorne in Provincetown, Massachusetts and later with William Forsyth. When he returned home to Indiana, Selfridge worked as an assistant to Thomas Hart Benton on a series of Works Progress Administration murals commissioned for the State Post Office and Federal Court Houses in Indianapolis. Throughout his life he exhibited at the Herron Art Institute and at the Richmond Art Association.
