April 25, 1891, l. 6 in.; together with 4 New Orleans/Louisiana sterling silver souvenir spoons, incl. Paye & Baker "St. Louis Cathedral" and "Mardi Gras", Inman "Evangeline", Weidlich "Jackson Square" and an unattributed "Mardi Gras" example; combined wt. 3.35 troy ozs. Provenance: Gift of Boyd Cruise to friend and French Quarter neighbor, Bessie Jones, thence by descent Note: Commissioned by the Robert E. Lee Memorial Association in the 1870s, the Lee monument was installed and dedicated in 1884. It was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. An identical spoon from the Christovich collection is illustrated in Crescent City Silver, p. 106, pl. 117.
