Robert Gordy (American/Louisiana, 1933-1986), "Figures in a Landscape", marker on paper, signed and dated "'78", 15 3/4 in. x 19 3/4 in. Note: Robert Gordy was known for his capricious paintings with repetitious patterns and abstract studies of human heads and female nudes. His artwork prior to 1982 represents his attention to color and shape in his detailed work. The nationally renowned Arthur Roger Gallery on Julia Street in New Orleans represented the artist, whose work has been exhibited at such auspicious venues as The New Museum, NY, New Orleans Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the National Collection of Fine Art in Washington
