PLEASE NOTE: The study for this painting was sold in these rooms as lot 603, January 31, 2010. The pencil and watercolor work was inscribed and dated "Dauphin[sic] St., N.O., March 20, 1884". Robert Hopkin was in New Orleans during this period to decorate the interior of the World's Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exposition which opened in December of 1884.
