E3000-5000 Provenance: Gift of W.W. Vail to Michigan City Public Library Collection, Indiana. Listed and reproduced in Michigan City Library Association Catalog of Paintings, p. 5. Accompanied by photocopies of materials relating to provenance. Note: The Midwestern artist Robert Grafton made several extended trips to England, Paris, and Holland to study and work. While living in Holland, Grafton created a series of paintings influenced by Dutch genre paintings, often using his wife and young family as models dressed in traditional costumes.
