Robert Wadsworth Grafton (American, 1876-1936), "An Indiana Forest Landscape", oil on canvas, signed lower left with pseudonym "Robert McCune", sight 24in. x 26.5in., in a period giltwood frame. E2500-3500 Note: As a child, Robert Grafton was adopted by his mother's second husband and took his last name. When Grafton was eighteen years old and pursuing a career as an artist, he returned to his place of birth in England, and for a short while assumed his birth father's name of McCune. Shortly upon returning to America, he gave up the name Robert McCune and used his adopted name of Robert W. Grafton. This landscape painting is an early example of Grafton's work and is hence signed Robert McCune.
