Ruby Viavant (American-New Orleans, 1904-1925), 'Nature Morte: Small Bird', watercolor, signed and dated '1921' lower left, sight 11.5 in. x 8.5 in., in a period oak frame. E1000-1500 Note: Ruby Viavant was one of the six children of Louisiana artist George Louis Viavant. Like her father she was adept at painting nature morte of animals. Ruby's promising career was cut short by her untimely death at the age of twenty-one. Ref: George Jordan, George L. Viavant: Artist of the Hunt, The Historic New Orleans Collection, 2003, pp. 55-6.
