Sesshu School (Japanese, 17th c.), "A Pheasant Among Tree Peonies", six-panel screen, ink, color and gold leaf on paper with moriage highlights, signed upper left panel with a spurious Sesshu Toyo (1420-1506) signature, two faded original artist's seals (unreadable), painting 64 in. x 141 1/2 in., overall 87 1/2 in. x 191 1/2 in. Estate condition. Provenance: From the estate of American diplomat Ellsworth Bunker (1894-1984).
