South Central European Bronze Sword , Bronze Age, c. 1200 BCE, of Riegsee-type, blade inserted into separately-cast hilt, blade flaring to its widest point approximately one-third of length from tip, with mid-rib framed by finely engraved parallel lines on either side, hilt nearly square in section and incised with concentric grooves, S's, and rows of short lines, knobbed pommel similarly incised, l. 24 5/8 in.
