Stephen Csoka (Hungarian/American, 1897-1989), "In the Studio: Reclining Nude", 1964, oil on canvas board, signed and dated lower right, 11 in. x 14 in.; accompanied by "Mother and Child at the Window (sketch of "The Conversation" en verso)", oil on masonite, signed lower right, 10 1/4 in. x 7 in., each framed. (2 pcs.) Note: Stephen Csoka was born in Gadony, Hungary and studied at the Budapest Royal Academy of Art. Csoka exhibited with the Hungarian Etchers, Barcelona International Exhibition and won a prize at the City of Budapest Exhibit. Working in Brooklyn, New York by 1935, he exhibited with the Society of American Etchers, Corcoran Gallery of Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Csoka was known for his paintings of nudes, genre scenes and landscapes.
