E1800-2000 Note: Working in the documentary style of photography, Theodore "Fonville" Winans captured the culture and life of New Orleans and Southern Louisiana during the 1930s. Winans photographed two African-American boys "jig" dancing on the sidewalk of the French Quarter for tips from tourists.
