E5000-7000 Note: Thomas Cantwell Healy was the younger brother of the renowned painter GeorgePeter Alexander Healy. In 1838, Thomas traveled to Paris to study artunder his brother George's tutelage. A year later, Thomas returned to Massachusetts and opened a portrait studio. hcse enjoyed success as an artist and exhibited his paintings at the National Academy Design and the Boston Athenaeum. After 1843, hcse traveled for many years asan itinerant portrait painter in Mississippi and Louisiana. In 1863 Healy settled permanently in Port Gibson, Mississippi. 422 A Mississippi cotton planter Jonathon McCaleb, was the owner of Greenfield plantation in Washington County, near Port Gibson. Anotherversion of a portrait of McCaleb by T.C. Healy is illustrated in the National Colonial Dames' book on Mississippi portraits. Ref.
