An American Carved Cherrywood Tallcase Clock, c. 1845, by Thomas R. J. Ayers, Danville, Kentucky, the painted dial signed "T Ayers/ Danville", and decorated with a vignette of a Greek Revival home overlooking a river, a man fishing in a boat, case with fluted quarter columns, base with shaped apron, on splayed feed, height 93 in., width 24 in., depth 13 in Provenance: The Headley-Whitney Museum, Lexington, KY (ACC.No.01.2.1). Note: Thomas Robinson Jamison Ayers was the son of noted Kentucky silversmith Samuel Ayers (who moved to Danville in 1810). He took over the business after the death of his father in 1824 and continued there until 1857.
