- Notes: Note: Virginia McLaws' brushy, Impressionist style of painting is clearly apparent in the work illustrated here. However, the vibrant, autumnal colors used in the trees diverge from her typical palette of blues and greens. Born the fifth of six children to General Lafayette Hueguenin McLaws and Emily Allison Taylor, Virginia McLaws was also the great-niece of President Zachary Taylor.
