Provenance: Estate of Walter Inglis Anderson, Ocean Springs, Mississippi, 2001. Note: From 1941 to 1947, Walter Anderson and his family lived at Oldfields, his wife's family antebellum plantation at Gautier, located about twelve miles from Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The attic at Oldfields was converted into a studio for Anderson. Despite his bouts with mental illness, the years spent at Oldfields were happy times for the Anderson family and a period of great creativity and productivity for the artist.
