A Fine West Indies Carved Tropical Hardwood Tester Bed, 19th c., probably Jamaica, molded tester on carved spiral and ring-turned posts now slightly reduced, tapered feet, casters, distinctive headboard with palmette crest and central inlay, straight rails, height 89 3/4 in., interior length 76 in., interior width 53 in Note: The distinctive stylized palmette headboard and posts with tapering twists and reeded urns on this bed are very similar to those on an important Jamaican mahogany bed illustrated in Connors. Caribbean Elegance, p. 115, fig 98.
