Will Ousley (American/Louisiana, 1866-1953), 'A Car By the Side of the Road', oil on canvas, signed lower left, signed and dated '1924' en verso, inscribed 'It was at this tree, ER ask me to marry him, Oct 1918-the tree was on the roadside near Alexandria, LA. It was cut down in 1931 to widen the highway. The artist copied the picture from the original snapshot' en verso, 20.5 in. x 35.25 in.
