Note: In the summer of 1890, William Woodward returned to Massachusetts and visited Annisquam, a small waterfront neighborhood of Gloucester. While vacationing in the historic scenic community, he created a series of large watercolors of the coast. In this charming watercolor, Woodward depicts a view of the sailboats and lighthouse in the harbor as seen through the dunes.
