Baumgarten & Co., 5th Ave., New York", each with molded rouge royale marble top, shell and foliate frieze drawer, acanthus carved cabriole legs, stretcher shelf, padded acanthus scroll feet, height 34 1/4 in., width 50 1/2 in., depth 21 in Note: Working with Christian Herter, William Baumgarten (1848-1908) designed interiors for the Fifth Avenue mansions of William Vanderbilt and Archer Huntington and William Welsh Harrison's Grey Towers Castle in Philadelphia. Baumgarten and Co. was formed in 1891, and became well known as the purveyor of Gobelins tapestries. Commissions included rooms at the Plaza Hotel of 1907.
