Provenance: Estate of noted architect, artist and antiquarian, James R. Lamantia, Jr. (1923-2011). Note : Known as the first Japanese printed map of the world from a Buddhist perspective, the present lot represents the rare fusion of Japanese and European cartography. The map centers on China, with Japan to the east, America to the north of Japan, and Europe to the far west, represented as a group of islands."
