Important Collection of Early George Rodrigue Artwork from the Estate of Artist and Collector C. Delle Bates (1943-2023)

Neal Auction is honored to present an important collection of early George Rodrigue artwork from the estate of artist and collector C. Delle Bates along with other works by the artist.

Mr. Bates met Rodrigue in the 1980s and was moved by his heart-centered interpretations of Louisiana life and culture. Mr. Rodrigue would drive to Texas to sell art from the trunk of his car at that time, and since Mr. Bates lived right across the border in Orange, TX, he was often his first stop. He became a full-time artist himself in the 1990s. Mr. Bates, like Mr. Rodrigue, leaves a legacy of generosity and kindness, love for Louisiana, and an abiding belief that art matters and beauty can save us.
