A Belle poque Gilt Bronze and Gilt Metal Six-Light Figural Gasolier, late 19th Century the acanthine corona over floral sprays flanking oval medallions with busts of Bacchantes, the twist stem flanked with strapwork and acanthine scrolls issuing six candle arms, the pendant with putti between grapevines, retains gas cocks, height 90 in., diameter 52 in., formerly electrified. E3500-4500 Provenance: "The Castle", a noted New Orleans mansion at Perrier St. and Exposition Blvd. adjacent to Audubon Park, also known as the "Lestat House" (in reference to a popular character in the works of New Orleans novelist Anne Rice).
