A Federal Inlaid Mahogany Chest of Drawers, c. 1800, attributed to Michael Allison, New York, large drawer with ovoid inlay over three graduated drawers, scalloped skirt, "French" bracket feet, banding and string inlay throughout, height 44 3/4 in., width 45 in., depth 20 1/2 in. Note: A mahogany chest bearing Michael Allison's (New York, 1773-1855) label with banding and stringing on the drawers nearly identical to that on this lot and a shaped apron and "French feet" very similar to that of this lot are in the collection of the New York State Museum, and illustrated in Scherer, New York Furniture at the New York State Museum, p. 32, fig. 29.
