A Fine American Classical Mahogany Armoire, c. 1820-40, probably New Orleans, Louisiana, having a cavetto molded cornice, paneled doors with reeded center panel attached to left door, original hinges, and distinctive beehive feet on brass caps; lovely flame mahogany veneers on frieze and skirt; the interior with belt of three drawers, attractive beehive motif pulls later and removable shelves; Eastern white pine and yellow poplar secondary woods; height 89 3/8in., width 59 1/8 in, depth 23 in E8000-12000 Inscribed in ink on rear of cornice 'Maurice Hebensteidt, Matamoros.
