A Fine Louis XVI-Style Mahogany, Marquetry, Bronze Mounted Bureau Plat, 19th c., signed 'Paul Sormani, 10 Rue Charlot, Paris' on the lock, the top with gilt and tooled leather writing surface within a parquetry skirt with drawer, the corners with bronze rosettes raised on fluted tapered legs, height 29.75in., width 46 in., depth 25 in. Note: Noted for inspired interpretations of Royal French furniture, Paul Sormani was born in Venice in 1817 and had a successful workshop at 10 rue Charlot in Paris by 1867.
