A Fine William IV Carved Mahogany Writing Armchair in the Gothic Revival Style, early 19th c., stamped T. Willson, 68 Great Queen Street (we. 1821-1829), London, on the back leg, the curved arms with a mechanical drop-leaf writing surface; the back in the form of a gothic arcade, the balloon seat upholstered in black leather with nailhead decoration, on lotus carved legs and brass casters, height 31 in., width 21 in., depth 20.75in. E8000-10000 Note: Thomas Willson's of 68 Great Queen Street in Lincoln's Inn Fields of London was both a cabinet-maker and a retailer of antique furniture. Wilson described himself as a "Cabinet Maker, upholsterer (of) every article of furniture for the drawing, dining, bedroom and library...of first class make" in the labels for some of his furniture.
