A Good French Faïence Plate Décor aux Oiseaux, late 18th/early 19th c., Sceaux or St-Clément, the well painted with a lively central group of three birds in a landscape, with floral and avian border vignettes, diameter 9 3/4 in. A St-Clément jardinière of c. 1785 in the Musée de Sevres, however, has another comparable painting of similar birds: Grand Livre de la Faïence Française, (Fribourg, 1986), p. 192, color pl. 246. Reference: A very similar group of birds in a parallel central landscape, on a Sceaux bowl of c. 1760, is illustrated in Boone Collection (Los Angeles, 1998), p. 66, color pl. 42
