An Attractive Group of French Faïence Objects in the Décor aux Oiseaux, late 18th c., probably Sceaux, including three cups and saucers and a covered sugar, with well-painted vignettes of birds in landscapes with isolated buildings, bowl height 4 in., saucer diameter 5 1/4 in. Reference: A Sceaux tray of c. 1775, with birds painted in an illusionistic landscape in a similarly pale palette, is illustrated in Grand Livre de la Faïence Française, (Fribourg, 1986), p. 211, color pl. 270.
