A Pair of American Renaissance Carved and Gilt-Incised Rosewood Music Chairs, c. 1875-1885, attributed to Herter Bros., New York, each with a scroll-carved crest centered with a painted portrait medallion, square padded back, rounded seat and stop-fluted, legs on India rubber casters, height 39.5in. E2500-3500 Note: The miniature painted portrait medallions on the crests of these two chairs are very similar to that on the crest of a chair conserved by the St. Louis Art Museum and possibly painted by Pierre-Victor le Galland (France 1822-1892).
