A Pair of Antique Paris Porcelain Black Ground Grecian-Style Vases, 19th c., each polychromed and gilded, one inscribed "Cèrès" depicting the goddess of cultivation in a dove-drawn chariot guided by Psyche and preceded by a garland-bearing nymph, the other inscribed "Flore" depicting the goddess of fructification in a dove-drawn car guided by Cupid and preceded by a flower-bearing nymph, the reserves with gilt vignettes of musical instruments, the white-glazed interiors ringed at the rims with gilt bands, the necks bearing gilt meander motifs, and the collars with projecting gilded moldings, the undersides with indistinct impressed marks, height 16 1/4 in., diameter 8 in.
