A Rare American Classical Mahogany Drop Leaf Table, c. 1825-1835, attributed to the workshop of Duncan Phyfe & Son, New York, the rectangular top with drop leaves above a recessed blind frieze drawer the columnar trestle base raised on bun feet, height 28.5in., width 24 in., depth 44 in., ext. width 52 in. E2000/3000 Note: The design of this table relates to a body of work attributed to Duncan Phyfe and Son, based on their unique cabinetmaking characteristics, bills of sales or provenance. The forms include a pair of games tables, an extension dining table, a cheval mirror with ormolu mounted columns, a sideboard-serving table which is an expanded version of a pier table, two center tables, and a gueridon. The related gueridon is original to Milford Plantation, South Carolina, and a center table is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum.
