A Sierra Leone Carved Stone Nomoli or Pomdo Figure, the male figure carved squatting on an intrinsic mounded base, his elbows resting on upturned knees, his extended forearms and hands grasping his beard, the face with bulbous eyes, broad nose and full puckered lips beneath a conical headdress, height 13 1/4 in.
PLEASE NOTE: Provenance: Acquired by William W. Hodges of Kokomo, IN, mid 1960s, while developing teacher training schools at the University of Njala, Sierra Leone.
