Description:

A.D. Greer (American/Texas, 1904-1998), "Still Life with White Roses and Yellow Gladiola in a Vase", oil on board, signed upper right, 39 1/2 in. x 46 in., framed.

  • Notes: Note: Known for his lush Texas landscape paintings and his Romantic still life scenes, A.D. Greer began painting at age seventeen and continued to do so throughout several career changes, including work as a sign painter and railroad spike driver in Colorado. These experiences gave Greer the opportunity to study the Midwest landscape, as well as to learn to memorize the images he saw in order to re-use them in his paintings. After gaining popularity in 1941, Greer continued to paint, traveling between New York and Austin, Texas, until his death in 1998.
