An Advertising Chromolithograph of Dan Patch 1:56 1-4: Champion Harness Horse of the World, owned by International Stock Food Co., sight 21.75in. x 27 .5in., in a period wood frame. E400-600 Note: Famed champion harness horse pacer Dan Patch became a national celebrity and beloved figure during the early 20th century. In 1902, Marion Willis Savage, owner of the International Stock Food Company of Minneapolis, purchased Dan Patch for E60,000. Skilled at promotion, Savage marketed Dan Patch in conjunction with the International Stock Food Company and other products including Dan Patch chewing tobacco and a dance named the Dan Patch Two Step. Both Dan Patch and Savage fell ill in July of 1916 and died within a day of each other, ending their long and prosperous relationship.
