Description:
An American Classical Carved Mahogany Armoire, c. 1825, Baltimore or Philadelphia, flared cornice above a pair of doors flanked by reeded pilasters, carved paw front feet, partially fitted interior, height 89 1/4 in., width 70 3/8 in., depth 24 1/4 in.

- Notes: Note: A number of design details on this armoire relate to examples from well known Baltimore and Philadelphia cabinetmakers. The canted cornice, pilaster stiles, and vertically proportioned doors on this lot relate to those on a maple armoire labeled by John Needles at the Baltimore Museum of Art. The carved feet with articulated claws seen on this piece are in the manner of Anthony Quervelle of Philadelphia.
